First excavation campaign in Santa Criz de Eslava (1995)

1995

In 1995, mechanical surveys were carried out on plot 163, which allowed the exhumation of archaeological structures, including the funerary enclosure called Mausoleum 1. Given the importance of the discovery, the team formed by Pilar Sáez de Albéniz, Rosa Armendáriz and Txaro Mateo, proposed the first archaeological excavation campaign, which took place from May 22 to June 21, 1995 and which allowed the discovery of two funerary enclosures and two vessels in the necropolis area.
